We are on an 11 week road trip with two tween boys. The Coast of Oregon is the entirety of Week 6, so this food trail is amazing! Generally, these growing boys are more interested in quantity over artisanal craftsmanship, but we'll get them there. 😂
Loved Rex Smith! I was a HS senior in 1979 and remember this movie, too. I also had a poster of him with his shirt dangerously unbuttoned! He was very dreamy, that’s for sure. 😍
He was (and still is) so cute! The hair. OMG. I really had a thing for guys with smooth faces and feathered blond hair when I was 12-13. The pants in the video! So terrible. But he was really dreamy. —Mel
I can't remember if I had his record or not. Did I just hope I would hear him on the radio? It's so funny to think that's how the world worked then. —Mel
I legit thought that's how band practices worked. Then when I actually joined a band in Austin, I was, like, 'Oh. This room smells funny. Everyone is wearing sweatpants, and it's really not in here.' Not glam or sexy at all. Not even a little bit. And we certainly never invited guests. —Mel
It's very beautiful to look at...but last June when we stayed in a house right on the beach it was SO windy and chilly - couldn't even sit on the patio! Once you left the beach the wind died down.

What a fantastic summer vacation! Eleven weeks! I hope you're all having a wonderful time.
I have SO MUCH to do today, but instead of doing any of it, I'm googling 1980s teen romances to see if I can find my favorites. Thanks for that. 😂
What a delightful post - And thank you so much for including my post about Normandy, I really appreciate it!
YES! That's what I want to see... Googling for nostalgia!
Your posts are *so* good. Thank you for the lovely sense impressions of Normandy! —Mel

o.m.g. a BATH on a TRAIN!
This made me smile☺️ At 14, I loved Rex Smith and listened to his album constantly. Thanks for the memory Mel!

That island IS a bargain! I’m in! 🏴
Right? We should do it! —Mel
Yeah, why was that huge crowd at band practice? Funny, I was just remembering this movie recently. It was my pre-teen dream!

I also read Sooner or Later during my formative years and LOVED it! I completely relate :)
The next time I'm in the States, I am 100% buying the DVD. —Mel
I'm headed to the Oregon coast in July. Maybe I can work through my TBR then!
How fun! It looks so beautiful.
