And so sorry you got sick and missed part of your vacation!!! You’ll plan an exciting getaway for a quieter part of the year - there are too many tourists in Paris in the summertime!
Thank you :-( That whole thing was a really big bummer and/but we're so close — we can definitely visit those places when it's not 90F and packed with tourists ;-) —Mel
Tourist-packed places in the oppressive summer heat sounds miserable! I’ve been in Florence and Paris is the height of tourist season and it’s not fun. I actually like Paris in the winter…
Returning a couple of weeks after listening to tell you that I read (in pretty much one sitting) The Hike! It was on 'Prime Reading' on my Kindle so I thought I might as well try it out. Absolutely fantastically twisty and SO well plotted.
Hope you're fully recovered from Covid by now - such a bummer.
I’ve spent most of the last week down with ‘Fresher’s Flu’ (I had Covid in July and tested negative a couple of times so pretty certain it wasn’t that version of plague, thank goodness) and share your relief to be back to exercising - first run in a while today, even if I did go back (again!) to the start of C25k to make sure it was an easy one.
I'm sorry you got sick! And yes, I was doing what I call my 'baby workout,' this week... will slowly ramp up over the next month or so. Doing everything I can to prevent long Covid. BLARG. Hate it.
I'm so sorry that you were sick and missed the concert 😞. Wishing you an even more fabulous something to look forward to this fall/winter that includes a bouncer to keep covid at bay. This episode was delightful and I'm passing it along to a friend who is visiting Norway next year.
Thank you for your kind words! We have a trip to London planned for October — seeing David Tennant in Macbeth on Halloween! — and I'm hoping that trip erases the bad summer memories.
So glad you enjoyed the Norway episode! Thank you for sharing it!
So sorry you got sick and missed much anticipated events. I’ve already listened to the Norway episode and it was delightful (as usual 😊). There’s no other book podcast that makes me add every single book to my TBR. We went to Norway earlier this summer and really wanted to read ahead of the trip and couldn’t find anything. Now I can at least read with the setting in my mind.
We had a great time, just too short! We took a cruise so only had about 8 hours in every city. One day was a rural port, and we went hiking to some Iron Age burial sites and gorgeous views. I imagined that every moss covered rock was a troll ready to sing to me like in Frozen 😄
I’m so sorry and sad to hear you missed so much of your trip, especially the concert and the Olympics you’ve been so excited about!😕 I hope you were at least able to watch the Olympics while you were sick and recuperating. I look forward to hearing the Norway episode.
YAY! Glad you liked the show, and I hope you get to visit soon. It was pretty spectacular!
We're both feeling great physically — still dealing with feeling sad about our lost vacation. But we're getting there :-) Thank you for your kindness. —Mel
Just listened to the new episode! Wanted to second David's assertion that Norse Mythology begs to be read out loud and throw out that Gaiman narrates the audiobook himself and it is so good. He has the type of voice that's like a warm blanket on a cold night.
So sorry you both got sick, hope you are feeling better!
We're better physically — still dealing with our broken hearts about missing Duran Duran and the Olympics. We were going to eat crossiants every day in Paris! ;-) —Mel
I have not! But now I am so excited to listen to it. Will have to decide if I want to listen now or wait until the holiday season...
My heart is broken for you! The planned trip sounds as though it would have been magical. Hopefully a new opportunity for extraordinary experience presents itself soon!
If it makes you feel any better, during your vacation my back has gone out, I've had food poisoning twice, and am dealing with a very painful cold sore. TMI!!!

Oh, yay! I'm so glad you had fun with The Hike! Super readable, right? And so twisty.
We are recovered and returned to exercising this week. SO happy to be back in my workout routine. Really not a fan of this virus.

Wish I had this episode before we went to Oslo in June! We enjoyed fantastic hot dogs in Stockholm, but didn’t know about the Norwegian variety.
Have you been to Reykjavik? There are also excellent hotdogs to be had there, too.

We haven’t been to Iceland yet, but I’ll keep this in-mind for future travel!

Thank you, Leeann! That whole Covid thing was a massive bummer — but we're starting to bounce back physically and emotionally. Sigh.
So glad you enjoyed the Norway show — and thank you for your very kind words. Love that we're helping grown your TBR.
Did you enjoy your time in Norway? What was your favorite thing? —Mel

Thank you :-( I was ridiculously excited about Duran Duran, so missing that was a real gut punch. But I'm slowly getting over it...
Hope you enjoy(ed) the Norway episode! —Mel
Loved this ep! Norway has been on my travel list for so long, and this definitely bumped it up in priority!
Hope you both are feeling better ❤️🩹

Oh, cool. Neil Gaiman is a great reader! Thanks for sharing that! Have you heard his narration of 'A Christmas Carol'? https://soundcloud.com/nypl/neil-gaiman-reads-a-christmas-carol

I'm so sorry you guys got sick! That's really awful. On the plus side, I just downloaded the Norway ep and can't wait to listen to it!
WORST VACATION EVER.
Hope you enjoyed the Norway episode! —Mel

Oh, no! You poor sweet baby. That really sucks. I hope you're tip-top again soon! —Mel
Yes, but I wasn't on vacation, so you win!
