Yes!!! I am from Northern New York on the Canadian border in lake Ontario. That is where I grew up. When you hear about the snow the Buffalo New York Jets, you can be sure that my hometown got more. I miss those blizzards and there is nothing more beautiful than walking silent streets at night with snow coming down. It is beautiful and breathtaking. I currently live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and we are having a drizzly Christmas that I did not dream of either. I also miss what comes along with snow. Ice-skating, snowmobiling, skiing, tobogganing. and of course snowball fights. as kids, we built so many forts and mountains on which to play. I would give anything to recapture all of that for Christmas. I would prefer it to any Christmas gift ever.

Yes to all the wonderful snowy things! Buffalo always reminds me of Tim Russert, who used to host Meet the Press. During football season, he would always end his broadcast by saying, “Go Bills”. He was such a fan.

I remember him well. It was so sad when he passed. Buffalo gets all the hype when snow hits up there because it’s a large city. The town I’m from is a very small town near Watertown New York which occasionally makes the news. It is also located next-door to Fort Drum. It is in the thousand island area. And I was just informed from a friend that they received 4 inches of snow overnight. I wish I were there.

Five inches of fresh powdery snow in Northern Vermont saves us from the melancholy gray last night! SNOW is mandatory for Christmas in my little world, as I read The Sugar Queen.

Lasagna is also Yes on Christmas Day!

Merry Christmas!!!!

Snow!❄️ Snow!❄️Snow!❄️ I'm in NJ and for the first time in a long time the ground is white at Christmas time. It's not a lot, but I'll take it. I love seeing the white ground outside, being cozy in the house. Also I look forward to going for a walk later tonight to enjoy the lights mixed in with the snow. Wishing everyone a cozy holiday wherever you are and whatever you celebrate!

As a maker of warm felt hats, I’m a huge fan of snow! :)

But I would be anyway. Born in BC, and descended from people further north, I feel absolutely happy in cold, snowy landscapes, and love the muffled sounds, and oblique winter light on snow! ❄️ Yes, please! All the snow! ❄️

(Also: I met my husband at a sled dog kennel in Alaska… yes to more ❄️ !!)

I haven’t had much experience with snow. My first time touching snow was in New Zealand and we found some on the side of the road and pulled over to jump in it. It was cold so didn’t do that for long. In Tasmania, I experienced falling snow for the first time in 2018 and it felt magical. That’s all my snow experience.

Today it feels like 43C and blue skies and sunshine in North Queensland, Australia.

I like a white Christmas… if we could ever just stay home. But the expectations to be driving to every relative’s house and gathering obligation over two days has led to some truly terrifying car rides that dissipated my view of the magic.

A few years back, at Christmas morning mass in Michigan — after a very snowy Christmas Eve with terrifying drives to Wigilia — the priest started the homily with: “To everyone who prayed for a white Christmas… good job. But maybe pray for world peace next time.”

Merriest wishes from Mexico, NY, where Lady Lake Ontario has granted us a white Christmas. Just enough to make fields and trees so pretty but not so much as to confound travel and footfalls. Such a funny word, that. This time of year, I pray that my footsteps are just that and not foot-falls!! My birds are joyously pecking away at the feeders, and my grands are eager to be with us. 2024 has been a year of so much joy and beauty, and yes, just a few twinges of real life wake-up calls and losses to prompt my prayers daily. I wish all here just enough joy in this moment to see you into a lovely new year.

I love snow. I live in a four distinct season region, (Detroit!) and I am a teacher so snow is magical to me. We had snow before Thanksgiving this year and I loved it! It sleeted last night and then snowed a little on top of it; messy and a little treacherous, but I will take it.

Yes, I am from the Chicago area but now live in Wisconsin, and I love snow. In my opinion, we don’t get enough snow in an average winter, but I will enjoy whatever comes our way. I agree with all that Kathy said about the things that come along with snow.

I love snow!

I spent my teens and twenties in Minnesota, and then lived in Upstate New York for 16 years, so most of the Christmases in those years were snowy. I've lived in Seattle since 1996, and Christmases here are usually wet, including this year—an "atmospheric river" is due any minute. There has been the occasional white Christmas, however. Usually it's just a dusting, but in 2008 the snow began on the solstice and continued off and on for a week. At the end, we had over a foot of snow!! It was mostly fun. My husband and I live on the side of a hill, and that usually means that we have to wait for the snow to melt to get out of our neighborhood by car (municipal snowplows being almost non-existent). We went for lots of walks in the snow, and prepared warm soup and other wintery foods (and Christmas cookies!) and had a very cozy time indoors. We missed all the holiday get-togethers, but managed to be festive with just the two of us.

What I love most this time of year are the Christmas lights and music, and spending time with friends and family, and despite the rain, I'll be doing that again this year. Happy Holidays!

I love snow as long as I don't have anywhere to go and it melts quickly. I live in an apartment like setting and i will lose my parking lot if I leave. Sadly, their is no snow where I am.

Absolutely love the snow. We moved to the mountains of Colorado from the city in part to have more snow. We do have some here atthe moment but only in the shadows where the sun hasn’t melted it out. Wishing for snow tomorrow but I don’t think it will happen.

Beautiful poem and thanks for sharing. Love all those types of snow.

We are currently in Stockholm where we were hoping for a white christmas, but it doesn’t look like it will happen. We grew up in Southern California , so snow is a rare treat for us. But it’s still fun to be in the cold and dress like it’s snowy… and we got a little a few days ago, so close enough!

I grew up in Southern California, so snow (and rain) was a special treat. So now I love it, but I've never had to live in it so I'm not sure what that would be like. Eventually I would like to live in a place that has more seasonal weather if not snow.

I love snow! But I love it most when I don’t have to travel anywhere in it. 😁

I grew up and still live in the St. Louis, MO area and remember some epic snowfalls from my childhood, but we don’t seem to get much snow here in the Midwest anymore.

We are also having a mild and rainy Christmas this year.
