Mel and Dave, I wasn't even aware of this list until seeing your post so thank you for bringing it to my attention.
I have not read any books on this year's list. This doesn't surprise me as I rarely read books in the year they are released. I did find a bunch to add to my TBR though so that is nice.
Interesting list! A lot of overlap with the NYT 100 list but also some divergence. I've read five books from this list: James, Clear, The Hunter, Bear, and Somewhere Beyond the Sea. James and The Hunter were my favorites. I've been trying to get around to The Familiar and hope to read it in 2025.
Looks like a good list. I think I've read ten of them, including the one I'm reading now. Four of those were graphic novels, which I appreciate them including.
I do find the list a bit overwhelming! Reviewing it now, I've read (I think) 8 books (including one I'm in the middle of) and DNF'd one. There are several I still want to read including The Mighty Red, The Book of Love, There are Rivers in the Sky, The Tainted Cup, The Bright Sword, and probably many more.
I have not made it to the entire list yet. However, from what I have read through I would say that I probably read about a dozen books on the list. I have two books in particular on my TBR actually three. Godof the Woods, Martyr, and God Bless You Otis Spunkmeyer. I also want to check out Bride.
I always feel overwhelmed by these lists because I'm usually making my reading lists for the year off of previous years lists, and therefore never have read anything "recent," but I did read James and Knife this year and both were deeply affecting in wildly different but also extremely similar ways.
Haha! Every year I think to myself "don't buy any new releases just look at what made the "Best Of" lists at the end of the year and use those to decide what to read. And every year I get distracted by all the shiny new books that come out and I give up and buy them anyway.
There have been a LOT of great books released this year! I didn't count but I've read quite a few of the books on this list. I still need to read James (I know, I know!) and The Fox Wife and Orbital and many others I won't list.
With everything that's so horrible happening in the world how lucky are we to have such a riches of books to enjoy!
I haven't completed any. I rarely read new releases. But I am currently reading 3 - Burn Book (on audio), The Ministry of Time, and What Goes With That
Definitely have read a few… The Hunter, Intermezzo, The Women, God in the Woods, Piglet, Here One Moment, Real Americans, Table for Two. Just starting The Lion Women of Tehran. I think I’ve read more from this list than the NYT (it’s big!) and definitely more than the Goodreads picks this year. Loved a few, not as much others. James is the big debate in our house. My husband read it and didn’t like it at all, but it is winning all the awards and making all the lists. Can’t decide if I wanna read it or not!
Thanks so much for posting this! I've added so many to my TBR list. And based on the gushing of several fellow readers, I will give North Woods another try!
What a massive list. Every year, I like their list better than any others. Interestingly, when I filter by Identity and Culture, I recognize and/or have read more of those books. I’ll have to comb through the other filters and see what they tell me about my reading habits. Thanks for sharing the link.

Same. I was thinking about this in the shower... I like the variety, i.e., there's literary fiction and graphic novels and thrillers... and I feel like they tend toward readable books in a way that say, NYT, does not.
Phew! That list is LONG. I was happy to find the filters on the side to make it more manageable. I am not sure that I've read any of these -- I have moved to reading more backlist books or books that are at least a year old. I recognize a lot of the titles and will probably get to them eventually (so many books...so little time...)
I have read Liars, Horror Movie, The Ministry of Time, and The God of the Woods, and already had a slew of others on my TBR list. I'm sure I'll add more once I peruse the list more thoroughly.
It looks good and is always funny to browse; I have a few books from their lists already in my TBR pile! It looks like weirdly nothing I've read this year.
Wow - what a list - Most of which I have not read. I just picked up James at the Library (I had it on hold for a long time). Read The Women which I liked but thought the flow of the book was kind of strange. I did read Sandwich - wasn't wild out it. Really liked the Lion Women of Tehran. (BTW - you have me hooked on " A Little to the Left". )

Oh, awesome. So glad we could introduce you to this annual tradition. It's fun to go back through the previous years, too.

Right? I love that they include graphic novels. This is a trend I can really get behind.

So how many of these should I put on my To Read list which has over 600 books on it....???
All. Of. Them. ;-)

Strong agree: This was such a great year for books.

The filters are the key to unlocking the fun, right?!

Has anyone read Blood of the Old Kings?
